SteamWatch
SteamWatch is a dedicated time-series visualization tool for steam trap data. It provides a focused, chart-driven view of temperature data and steam on/off state — useful when you need to do a deep analysis of a specific trap over a custom time range.
What SteamWatch Shows
- Condensate temperature — the primary sensor reading for steam trap analysis
- Steam temperature — upstream steam temperature
- Ambient temperature — environmental baseline
- Steam on/off state markers — overlaid on the temperature chart to show when steam was detected as on or off
- Annotations — manual notes you can add to the timeline to record events like repairs, inspections, or known shutdowns
When to Use SteamWatch vs. Insights
| Use Case | Tool |
|---|---|
| Day-to-day monitoring, fleet overview, alerts | Shoplogix IMS |
| Deep dive into a single trap's temperature history | SteamWatch |
| Reviewing what happened before and after a repair | SteamWatch |
| Annotating the timeline with field observations | SteamWatch |
Annotations
SteamWatch supports adding annotations directly on the temperature chart timeline. Use this to record:
- When a trap was inspected or repaired
- Known shutdowns or system events
- Field observations that should be correlated with sensor data
Annotations help you build a history for each trap and make it easier to verify whether a repair resolved an issue.
Access
SteamWatch is a separate web application. Contact your Shoplogix account team for the URL and access setup for your organization.
Authentication uses the same Shoplogix credentials as Insights — you do not need a separate account.
